Zabriskie to Slipstream???

I didn't think much of it the first time I heard of it, but I read this today and now wonder if there is something more to it?

Personally, Slipstream is my favorite pro team. I would love nothing more than to see them earn a wild card bid into the Tour de France next year. I love the fact that they are largely (18 of 23 riders) an American team. They are young and aggressive and without a doubt (in my mind) the cleanest team in the sport.

It'd be awesome to see someone like Zabriskie sportin' the Argyle. Slipstream is obviously bolstering their roster in order to meet their goal of becoming a Pro-Tour team by 2009...other current pros linked to contract talks with Slipstream are:
Backstedt - I guess it'd be nice to have the Sweedish National Champs jersey on the team, but he's kinda in his twilight isn't he?
David CaƱada Gracia - really? how 'bout Horner instead
David Millar - I guess he's a big name, which is what they need, and he's a good ambassador for racing clean, but he's a bit old too, no?
Thomas Voeckler - Another big name, especially one that would carry some weight with the French organizers of the TdF.
Christophe Laurent - Another Frenchy to carry some weight with the ASO (TdF organizers). I'm pretty sure he's already signed too...his personal blog comes right out and says that he's riding for Slipstream next year. (the blog has been translated from french, so it doesn't read well, but you'll get the idea).
Depending on how he shows in the U.S. National TT championships this year, maybe bring Saul Raisin on as well. While we're at it, let's sign some other American studs...Tyler Farrar, George Hincapie (for leadership), Jason McCartney, maybe even young John Devine.

No matter who Slipstream signs, I'm very much looking forward to watching as my favorite team grows into one of the most competitive teams on the Pro-Tour.

Paul

Please explain the difference between Jan Ullrich, "a filthy doper" (your blog a few months back) and David Millar , " a good ambassador for racing clean"? David Millar is every bit as filthy.

The word on the street is that backstedt is off to T Mobile

Actually, Millar admitted to doping. Jan has not nor has he been prosecuted for it, so he is still technically clean.

my point as well danny

new evidence posted this morning/last night about der kaiser: he was in madrid with rudy and dropped 25 large when he claimed to be at home in austria. oops.
they are all filthy dopers, aren't they danny??
mcewen's win was awesome, though.

by the way: recent interview with pope in pezcycling (creator of plastic peloton people). it has a link to all the old ones, which are hyterical.

I thought Hincapie was talking with T-Mobile for '08?
I'm not sure how much money The Argile Boys have, but I would think T-Mobile would win that bidding war.

Big B - Millar admitted to doping, served his suspension and is now quite the advocate for racing clean. Ullrich's DNA involved him with fuentes, yet he still denies, thusly dragging the believability of the sport through the mud.
Danny - Are you really going to argue that Ullrich is "clean"? c'mon!
southaustralia - McEwan is the man, I'll give you that...but Fabian punked him and all the other sprinters yesterday huh?
Penrod - Yeah, I heard about Hincapie to T-Mobile too, I was just throwing stuff out there...BTW, I hear that Slipstream has a budget of about 8 million euros...Not bad considering they don't have a title sponsor.

Talking about filthy dopers and getting cought, Kessler's excuse is probably the worst I've heard so far. He claims that shortly before the Fleche Wallone when he tested positive, he swallowed the contents of four packages "with Chinese writing on them." He had received the packages from his alternative health practitioner, and assumed they were food supplements. So either he has to come up with a better excuse, or he is just plain stupid.

...and what is this I hear about Axel Merckx being tied to "a new up and coming American team" as mentioned during yesterday's tour?

What a @#$%^!! Now Vino too... Paul, you are way past due with a new post. Yeah yeah, I know you recently has a baby and what not, but you also have a responsibility with your loyal audience :)

Where are the posts with all the new developments ? I have my theory about all this doping. Isn't is kind of peculiar that these athletes have super days, then horrible days on the bike and then come back the next day and destroy everyone (Landis, Vino). When I ride really hard and destroy myself, there is no way I will come back the next day to kick everyone's butt. So either they dope after their bad days, or they have bad days because they get the side effects of the transfusion (inflammation, hemolysis,...). It just doesn't add up - that leads me to winning the Tour 7 years in a row; now that's not normal either.

Funny thing.
Vern and I were watching the tour after Vino lost 28.51 on Stage 14 and my response to her asking me if Vino was out of contention was; "Vino's going to have to pull a Floyd Landis to stay in the race".
Sure enough, that's EXACTLY what happened.

It sucks we have to post these things to the Zabriskie post.
He's not even in the tour anymore. Poor guy.

Cadel is clean - he keeps being dropped in the mountains. No testosterone / blood transfusion enhanced comebacks for him.

At the very least he will take the 3rd podium spot :)

NEWSFLASH:
Paul Messal spotted at Cycle Logic Team Gathering.
I can confirm as an eyewitness, as well as others present that PAUL MESSAL LIVES!! Contrary to the sporatic sitings of the Chupacabra Lochness Monster, and Big Foot, several witnesses spotted Messal alive and well, with baby and momma in tow, and even spoke to the recluse.
